Description of Location: Anchored leeward side of Palmerston Atoll, Cook
Islands

There is a gyre that meets the gyre that goes to my home
And how the phytoplankton grow there
And we’ve got special boats that sail the seas to my home
And it’s careful, and it’s careful when I’m there

And I say your uncle was a crooked biosecurity officer
And he was gut-shot smuggling rats
And how his teeth were all suspended in his elbows
And how he held them, how he held them, held them in

And the currents flow around the sea
And the currents flow around the sea
Oh, what a thing to be
All a-lone-ly sea

July, July, July! It never seemed so strange
July, July, July! It never seemed so, it never seemed so strange

This is the story of the gyre that goes to my home
And what fish there do remain
And all the winds that blow the length and breadth of my home
And the frigates, how they rattle frigate chains

And we’ll remember this when we are old and ancient
Though the specifics might be vague
And I’ll say the masts were all a-painted sun-like yellow
When in fact they were a sandy tan-ish beige

And the currents flow around the sea
And the ships sail across the sea
Oh, what a thing to be
On a windswept sea

July, July, July! It never seemed so strange
July, July, July! It never seemed so strange
It never seemed so strange!
It never seemed so strange!
It never seemed so stra-a-ange!

Happy July, R.C. Seamans blog viewers! This far-too-late July 1st post is
your designated break from narrative-style reading.

To Jessica and Kevin, I hope there are abundant rains and friendly sun on
Hickory Hill!
To Carolyn and Bob, I hope your ping pong table has not run away!
To Janet and Ed, I hope Sophie has found many pseudo-sheep to entertain her!
To Katrina, I hope the vines on your balcony are casting shadows of
sharply-defined patterns!
And to all reading on land or at sea, remember to eat plenty of berries this
month. How’s that for a horoscope?
