Tonga, here we come!

Tomorrow morning we will arrive in Vava’u, Tonga! In preparation for our arrival, today was field day. We spent our allotted class time today cleaning the entire ship. Dividing the chores up between watches, we conquered the task in 2 full hours. Prior to the cleaning, we had a friendly relay race among the watches to see who could identity any given pin (where the lines are fastened) and line. Right when the race began, it started raining on us adding an extra challenge! Against all odds, all the groups tied!!

Today was so much fun, but I can’t wait for tomorrow’s dawn watch! I am thrilled to be able to watch the sunrise and be able to see Tonga on the horizon. I am hoping I will be on look-out and be able to holler “LAND HO!!” (This has been my personal goal for this trip.)

Considering tomorrow will be class S-288’s first time docking the boat to port, we will need all the rest we can get to get the job done in a timely fashion.

P.S. All students, including myself, who had a difficult time gaining our sea legs have all recovered! A few days in and everyone has been participating in their watches as much as they can give. Couldn’t be prouder
of my mates.
