Tall Ships America, a national organization dedicated to youth education, leadership development, and the preservation of maritime heritage, recognized two members of Sea Education Association at its Annual Conference of Sail Training and Tall Ships, held Feb. 15 – 17 in New Orleans.

SEA President Peg Brandon, W-48, received the Tall Ships America Leadership Award.  Given for the first time this year, the award honors “a member who has made a significant contribution to sail training through the demonstration of leadership at the executive / senior level, and whose impact has been felt by the training community at large, beyond that of their own organization.”

The 2017 Sail Trainer of the Year Award went to Capt. Jen Haddock, C-109, SEA’s marine operations coordinator. This award recognizes those who make “a significant contribution to sail training through the demonstration of leadership by means of empowerment and inspiration.”  In addition to her role as marine operations coordinator, Jen served as project manager for the Corwith Cramer Major Maintenance Project last summer.
