In response to travel restrictions and health guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sea Education Association (SEA) has revised fall programs, shifting all operations to coastal U.S. Atlantic waters aboard our flagship vessel, the SSV Corwith Cramer with no international travel or port stops required.

Because our program model has always involved small classes delivered by a dedicated faculty in a generally closed & contained environment, we are confident that we can offer programming this fall that is consistent with guidance from both CDC and the University-National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) with respect to operation during the ongoing pandemic

These multi-disciplinary programs provide students a life-changing sea voyages of scientific discovery, academic rigor, personal growth and dynamic leadership development that are the hallmarks of SEA Semester. Shore components will be held a short distance from the ports of departure.

We’re pleased to offer two undergraduate cruise tracks this fall semester: Ocean Exploration and Caribbean Reef Expedition. With cruise tracks near shore ranging from the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts National Monument to the coral reefs of the Florida Keys, this fall’s programs are designed to conform with U.S. State Department travel restrictions and CDC health guidelines. Along the way, students will gain the skills needed to help address on of the defining issues of the 21st Century: human impact on the marine and coastal environment.

These programs are open to all undergraduates who may earn up to 17 semester credits through our accrediting institution, Boston University.
