SEA Joins with Smithsonian to Inspire French Students
Faculty and staff of Sea Education Association shared advice and information with nearly 200 French high school students and educators Wednesday, June 2nd, in a Zoom webinar organized by the Smithsonian Institution, the U.S. Embassy in Paris, and the French Education Ministry.
SEA Director of Marine Operations Tom Sullivan discussed SEA’s mission and presented a short video about Sea Education Association.
Designed to coincide with the upcoming World Oceans Day, “Ocean Action: What’s the Mission?” convened SEA Director of Marine Operations Tom Sullivan together with ocean experts from the Smithsonian conservation program, Healthy Reefs for Healthy People, and Philippe Cousteau, Jr. of EarthEcho International.
Also participating were Dr. Jan Witting and Captain Greg Wisener aboard the SSV Corwith Cramer, who sent messages to the students, no doubt inspiring them with reports of recent sightings of two great white sharks and humpback whales south of Nantucket.
The student eco-delegates represented schools throughout France and French territories. The goal was to encourage young people to get involved in protecting the ocean.
