SEA’s Dr. Kara Lavender Law Shares Insights on Ocean Plastic Pollution

SEA Research Professor of Oceanography Kara Lavender Law shares insights on ocean plastic pollution in two recently published news articles.

In addition, this week, Dr. Law will be virtually attending the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC), which is charged with developing an international, legally binding agreement to address plastic pollution, including in the marine environment. She is attending on behalf of the International Science Council (ISC).

Others in the ISC delegation from the U.S. include Dr. Law’s colleague Jenna Jambeck (Univ. of Georgia and MacArthur Fellow) and Margaret Spring, Chief Conservation and Science Officer of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Chair of the National Academies of Science, Medicine and Engineering (NASEM) Committee on U.S. Plastic Waste, on which Dr. Law served in 2020-2021.
