Wassup, internet! It has been about 5 days without touching grass or outside communication, but the dolphins sure kept us plenty company. Not even 2 hours before writing this blog we witnessed one of the most whimsical sights. At 2 am, around 15 dolphins frolicked beneath the bow leaving glowing trails of bioluminescence. I thought seeing Moana in 3D was cool but seeing this magic right in-front of you is something only being present can fully capture. The whole show lasted almost 30 minutes until they parted ways leaving us to process a sample of plankton, but no Sponge Bob included. Morning watch was good, had nice breezes and a good warm shine of sunlight. Alex was standing on lookout for 2 hours because nobody switched him out for chores. We did some really cool deployments capturing the super lobster that roamed around his tank looking for food. Sadly, the 2 trigger fish died, and Sam dissected them showing us the liver, brain, etc. (It was cool, but kinda gross, too). In the Afternoon, we played a lot of music and had a good time. 

Then there was me (the third author of this blog: Hayden) who woke up a minute late to his watch which was not pleasant whatsoever. Soon after starting our watch we encountered the before mentioned dolphins which really gave me time to wake up and lock in. Later today we will have a competition between our watches which makes us as a collective watch have to memorize all of the lines on the ship, so look forward to hearing about who wins later. Not only do we have our little contest but we have also now chosen our final projects so now we also have that to commit to. Anyway we will be starting our 100 count soon and I am really hoping to find a Clione (a predatory, swimming snail with no shell – fascinating).  My two goals for this trip is to find a Mola mola or a Clione, so far both fronts have been futile but I am still holding out hope! Anyway, I know I am just yapping at this point so I should probably wrap this up, thank you for sticking around valued reader! We really appreciate your continued support and thank you again.

Update: Since writing my original statement I have now officially seen a Mola! This watch was very eventful, we saw many whales, sharks, dolphins, and other large ocean animals! Though my search for more Mola mola is not over it certainly at least a steady start to my journey! 😀
