Woke up this morning at a crisp one-am, put on my clothes, grabbed coffee and headed up to the deck to start my watch. I was on navigation for the first hour which meant I had to do the weather check and plot our position on the chart.  After that I was on lookout in which you stand at the bow of the ship and look out for potential threats. I was on helm when the sun started rising which was an awesome feeling steering the ship into the sunrise after a long watch.

As soon as my watch ended I ate a quick breakfast then went straight to bed. I woke up to the sound of the lunch bell and after eating I went up on deck and decided to read my book on top of the lab. The book I was reading was Heart of Darkness (a recommendation from my grandpa).

After reading and hanging out with people on deck we watched the sun set which was beautiful. I ate dinner then headed up to the lab to start my evening watch which goes from 7pm to 1am. We flew through the first couple of things that we had to do so we could go star-gazing.  After taking a quick break to get some fresh air and look at the stars we started setting up to deploy our Neuston net. we deployed it and retrieved it quickly and with zero issues. I was absolutely exhausted by the end of my watch and was out like a light as soon as my head hit the pillow.
