Weather / Wind / Sail Plan (from 1300 Watch Change): Today the weather was very nice we have basically a blue bird day except for a couple of clouds. Winds were blowing not too much or too little just the right amount for us to be able to set the Fisherman sail for the first time this trip!!! We also were able to use the mainsail, main staysail, the fore staysail and also the Jib.
Location: Sargasso Sea, North Atlantic Ocean
Started the day great after getting 9 hours of sleep which we rarely are able to get at sea. I started my day bright and early at 7am for morning watch. Today I was on deck and was helping steer the boat and put up some of the sails. Today we were able to setup one sail for the first time this trip it is called the Fisherman sail. It was a hectic process but we were able to get it up. Then after watch we had lunch and it was some pretty gas chicken tacos.

After that I spent my afternoon before class outside and journaling. Then after that we had class/field day where we spent the time from 2:00 to 4:00 pm deep cleaning the boat and it was a pretty good time we were able to listen to music for the first time in what seems like has been an eternity.

Once we came back to the deck after cleaning the boat everyone sang me happy birthday and we had some really good chocolate cake. Then after that I relaxed for a little bit and grabbed the guitar and played for a good hour and a half outside while the sun was setting. It does not get much better than that. Weston has been a really good teacher, showing me how to play and I would say I have made some great progress on playing the guitar during this program. After that I went and had a great dinner which was Shepherds Pie.

It is now nearing the end of the day were I am about to go to sleep early because I have Dawn Watch tonight from 1 to 7 am really looking forward to it . Its okay though I plan on getting all the sleep I can and then once I am off watch I will spend my afternoon snoozing for a good 10 hours. I would say everyone has become super close this trip and it has made this an awesome experience I would have not been able to make it through if I did not have this group of people around me.
