Hello everyone! This is the B(est) watch talking to y’all on this blog, the authors are below but all of us somewhat contributed to the cause of writing this amazing blog. At the beginning of the day, we had morning watch from 0700-1300 (7:00AM – 1:00PM) where we saw Mola Molas, Sharks, too many shearwaters on the surface, and Lions Mane Jellyfish!! We had a few sightings of the shark where it went after the birds and was interested in the phytoplankton net.

Science deployed the neuston net, the phytoplankton net, the CTD with two Niskin bottles on the wire, and the Secchi disk. Then we had class where the Line Chase happened (we came in 2nd – second is the best), raided all the snacks on board, and the ginger chew drought continues.
We played card games and then got bored after trying to find a different game rather than Anomia but the other games were rather too hard to play or boring. Then all of B watch decided to climb on top of the chart house where we played some music, card games, and talked (with the occasional massages on the housetop for Ruben). Later, we listened to Annie play the fiddle on the deck, enjoyed the sunset, and eventually went to bed before Dawn Watch.

During Dawn Watch (1:00 – 7:00), we took down The JT and the main sail in high winds. We had to climb on the housetop AGAIN to furl the main sail because it was so windy. I (Xavier) kinda compared it to a hurricane, but I know it’s not really that but it’s whatever… Currently, while writing this blog, the stars are out and it’s so beautiful!! All the stars are bright and shining in the night sky (This is why dawn watch is the BEST watch). Writing this blog for the first time is an experience to say the least, considering all the time and effort to make this sound so descriptive and different from all the other blogs.
