Morning watch started with a nice full night sleep with a shower right before bed, and 8 ½ hours of sleep. When I went to bed I remember seeing no land in sight just straight BLUE! This morning when I woke up I got told we were in the BVI’s and there were islands surrounding us. After getting out of my bunk, I decided to go up on deck and see what it was like, it was so cool. After sitting on the deck boxes for awhile waiting for the sunrise to finish, the breakfast bell rang so I went back down to eat breakfast before my watch.

Hannah and I (Lynlee) on dawn, lab watch watching the sunrise

After breakfast, watch started at 0700. Today I was JWO (Junior Watch Officer) for the last 3 hours of our watch, in those 3 hours we gybed 3 times. While on watch our job was to get through The Narrows without crashing into any boats and keeping our boat in the water and off land, and I have to say we did it! By the time we were done with our watch it was 1300, which means lunch time! After lunch we had like an hour or so and then class. During class we went over the weather, navigation, and sciences reports. After that we tried on our snorkeling gear in preparation for our port stop in St Croix! After that I decided that I was going to read my book so I read my book on the quarterdeck and then moved up to the elephant table where everyone else was hanging out and reading their books. Soon after it was sunset time so, I put my book down and watched the sunset as I talked with Hannah about our days. At this point we are able to see St. Croix! Looking back at my 10 year old self, I would never have thought that I would have been here today, and I’m so grateful to be here!
