Hello to everyone at Proctor and back home! We are on our third week here on the Corwith Cramer and we have (for the most part) all found our sea-legs and are used to the constant moving under our feet. Since we passed through the Gulf Stream it has been getting hotter and hotter, and it’s safe to say it doesn’t feel much like October anymore. The last few watches and weeks have gone by in the blink of an eye, as they all sort of meld together once you get into the watch rhythm.

The last couple watches have been quite nice: I got woken up at the ripe hour of 0030 (12:30 A.M) last night, or this morning I suppose, for a nice and quiet dawn watch. Because I was on watch during the night I was able to finally move around the ship without sweating obnoxiously. While on lookout, I saw some shooting stars, flying fish and some scary looking clouds that we ended up avoiding. After lookout, we rotated watch stations and I moved over to take the helm of the ship. The Cramer practically steered herself for some very smooth and peaceful sailing. After that, I knocked out some dishes down in the galley and we rotated watch stations one more time before getting relieved by B-Watch and going down below for some good food and sleep.

Looking beyond the last 24 hours, this trip has been nothing but life-changing, challenging and an experience to remember. Some of my funniest memories and favorite times could be brought back to our time so far, both on shore and out here at sea, such as trying to remember the lyrics of Oasis’s “Don’t look back in anger” with Shuggy, cooking gumbo in the galley while heeling, reading or good conversations with friends. When you are in the middle of balancing sleep, eating, and watch responsibilities it can be hard to think about how amazing it has been. While I’ve loved this trip and certainty learned a lot both academically and about myself, I often find myself thinking about little pieces of home and school: the Lake, the foliage, friends, and football.

PS- Hello Mom, Dad, Sydney and Ben! I’ve missed you all so much and can’t wait to hear from you once we reach port in St. John. sorry for my lack of letter writing while on shore. I hope all is well at Trinity, Raleigh and at the lake. So I do in fact get quite seasick, but its ok and I mostly got over it. The sunsets and sunrises have been spectacular! I don’t go a day without thinking of everyone and I love all of you and can’t wait to see you in a few short weeks!
