Good morning! Yesterday was another invigorating day! We started off the day with an 0600 wakeup for B Watch, followed by a delicious breakfast of English muffins, bacon, and eggs. During watch, we deployed a surface station, Neuston net, phytoplankton net, CTD, secchi disc, and niskin bottles, where we discovered a variety interesting samples.

We also did some sail handling while everyone was scrambling to practice their lines in preparation for the line chase! Unfortunately, B watch placed last in the relay, but our team spirit and zest for the game earned us first in everyone’s hearts (don’t confirm this fact with C watch, our first place team…) After class, we all retreated to our bunks, the salon, or up on deck to relax and spend some time with friends before dinner. Mixed members of B and A watches could be heard playing scrabble and singing sea shanties with chief engineer Soren in the salon, apologies to anyone who was sleeping, I hope our lovely voices and the rolling of the seas lulled you to slumber.

We were invigorated by a delicious dinner of cheese ravioli, and it was advised we hit the hay directly after in preparation for our dawn watch, but some report there was some heated rounds of go fish happening in the salon until the wee hours of 2130, where our own Sarah reigned supreme consistently. Though not a day goes by without the looming possibility of pirates, we were graced by more lovely guests yesterday…dolphins! (Thank you Colin for pointing them out.)
