Good morning! Yesterday A Watch had a nice early wake up at 0600! Griffin was not too pleased with his multiple wake ups, one 30 seconds after the other, but I guess he’s just not trusted. Breakfast was a delicious and mouthwatering pancakes and sausage with a delectable blueberry sauce. We then headed up to deck to relieve C Watch, and start our morning watch.

Our shift started with some lovely chores to keep our boat nice, clean, and pristine. Our next task was to prepare Cramer for the science deployments. The Labbies (with the help of Borger) launched the Shipek grab to collect a sediment sample of the sea bed. The results were invigorating with brittle stars! Next was the secchi disc. Griffin won once again with a guess of 11m. Unfortunately, Ellie’s guess of 61 (degrees Celsius) was a bit too high.

While on Deck, Wyatt (our helmsman) saw a really cool/strange black bird that he has yet to identify, but he was very excited about it. After we were relieved by B Watch, we added an 8th word to our Watch name. Ahoy! Next we headed down for some scrumptious lunch. Chicken tenders and tater tots.

At 1430 we had class. We listened to C Watch’s reports from Science and Deck. Our topic of the day was the research projects! We had an intense rock, paper, scissors match with B Watch in order to pick our research topic first. We won (yay A Watch!) and chose project plankton. Afterwards, we all took naps, and studied for the line chase. Dinner was a nice rice bowl, and there were incredible butterscotch cookies for dessert. We then headed to bed to prepare for our early Dawn Watch. There was also a potential Pirate sighting, but we think it’s a fishing vessel, don’t worry…
