Martha’s Vineyard: Free Time Off Campus

Saturday, 27 June 2026
SEA Campus, Falmouth, MA
In order to catch the ferry, our day today had a bit of an earlier start than usual. After all, everyone was excited to make the most of the first full day out of class.
A day of freedom and fun concludes the first week on campus for the oceanography students in B house.
The ferry ride went by without incident, but not without a short-lived debate about which side of the boat was really the front (if a ferry moves in reverse the whole time, which side is actually the front?).
Once in Martha’s Vineyard, some students grabbed food while others headed to a coffee shop with delicious coffee and muffins before regrouping at a park with a beautiful view of the ocean. Afterwards, we got some frozen yogurt and explored Oak Bluffs, then rested for a while in a shaded park.

While exploring the area, we shopped at various stores with jewelry, clothes, and souvenirs. One shop even had a giant chair!
Some classmates decided to get the most out of the perfect, sunny weather by spending the rest of their time at the beach. My group got our steps in by going for a walk to the public library.

To wrap up the day, we returned to the cottages and had a cookout before leaving to watch the sunset at a Sippewissett area beach.
