Hi everyone! This is Mujahed, B watch, from Methodist University. Going back to land was very interesting; it felt overwhelming seeing people everywhere and going back to civilization in a way. I have noticed living my present moment became harder as I connected to the internet. There was some pressure to feel happy all the time since I am going places in New Zealand, yet it might not have been the case. As I reflect about my experiences, it is important to have a holistic understanding of the ups and downs and appreciate both stages. This is where growth happens.
The last two days have been nice! I have been both a Junior Watch Officer and a Junior Lab officer. It still seems crazy the fact we are officially operating a sailing vessel and doing research with limited guidance knowing none of the students had any previous experiences before this trip. I also cannot believe we have only one week left for SEA Semester. It went by so fast!
I definitely consider myself as one of the lucky people in this world. There are a lot of challenges associated with my nationality as a Palestinian. Nevertheless, I am getting the privilege of traveling our beautiful planet, meeting intelligent people from diverse places, discussing issues that matter, and visiting incredible places such as Franz Joseph Glacier!
I hope to use my experiences abroad to create a better future for my generation and future generations. I realize there is a lot to be done after this program, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me next! I would like to use this blog to express that I am thankful for the opportunity of SEA Semester.
