This blog post is the second for Class C-297B (Session 2), Science at SEA, which is now on campus and which will join the SSV Corwith Cramer on July 22nd.

This morning started off with bagels, cream cheese, fruit, and eggs. After breakfast, we broke up into our watch groups to do chores! Then, we went to our oceanography class where we went to the beach and took sediment samples for our lab from the harbor. Our next class was nautical science where we learned about the logistics of sailing and participated in 4 different stations; exploring a model of the Cramer, boating simulation, immersion suits, and a balance model.

For lunch, we had pasta with tomato, basil, and mozzarella in it with kale. After lunch, we had oceans and societies class where we learned about early peoples and their development of navigational technology over time. We also had very open ended discussions as a class. When classes were over, we went to a different, closer, beach during our afternoon free-time and swam in the ocean.

After we returned, we ate dinner which consisted of grilled cheese and tomato soup. After cleaning our dishes, we watched a documentary called My Octopus Teacher, which took a sad turn at the end. And now we’re here, writing a blog woohoo! smile Today felt like a long day, but everyone is so excited that it’s hard not to match their positive energy. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow holds!!
