A Trail Walk and Twilight Fun

This morning, I woke up early, ahead of my alarm – the best start to a day in my opinion!
After I got dressed and ready, I went down to the kitchen and made myself an iced coffee with
almond milk, my absolute favorite drink. Since we were stewards today, my watch and I got
ready to make brunch for our cabin (Cabin A), and Cabin B. We began by making the mix for
pancakes, French toast, and bacon. They all looked so good and everyone was so excited to start
brunch! Cabin B brought over eggs and vegetarian sausage, and we also had yogurt and fresh
fruit. After everyone made their plates, we ate breakfast outside at the picnic tables and the
weather was absolutely perfect! Everyone loved brunch and we made a plan to go for a hike at
2:00. Until then, we cleaned up from brunch and had some down time, during which I tidied up
my bunk a bit and called my parents to catch up.
Soon, it was time to get ready for the hike so I put on my hiking boots and sunscreen and
we headed over to the trail! The hike was beautiful and a great way to get out in nature. It was
not too hot and there was plenty of shade courtesy of the canopy of trees :). As we walked, my
friend Lyla and I talked and laughed and eventually got a bit ahead of the group, but everyone
was soon reunited when we stopped at a fork in the road. We mainly followed a path around a
reservoir, one that provides drinking water to Falmouth! To the right, we had a beautiful view of
the water and to the left there were trees as far as the eye could see. We noticed so many
beautiful flowers and little critters scurrying about, and we stopped to look and see before we
continued walking. Before we knew it, we had finished the four mile hike and headed back to
SEA campus. We arrived back, very grateful for the air conditioning!
After showers and a bit of down time, it was time to make dinner – baked ziti night! We
made both vegetarian and gluten free baked ziti while Cabin B made a meat baked ziti, then we
all ate together once again outside. After a yummy dinner and fun conversation, we migrated to
the fire pit to have some s’mores! Soon it was dark and we decided to play a fun game of “ghost
in the graveyard” which is like hide and seek but with a bit of a spooky twist. We played for a
while then we returned to our cabins to get ready for bed. We stopped in the kitchen and got to
try some of the delicious cookies our PAs baked. The evening was the perfect end to a great
weekend. Soon we all got ready for bed and went to sleep, ready for an early morning and
another great day tomorrow!
