Brunch, Blooms, and Bonfires

August 3, 2025
Today, we slept in and woke up to an amazing brunch made by our PA, Amenya. In the afternoon, we went for a hike in Spohr Gardens. During the hike, we learned about methods of identifying various types of mushrooms. We also collected flowers along the way, including hydrangeas, small-leaved Plantain Lily, Creeping Bellflower, and Orange Day-lily. After that, we decided to head to the beach. It was a great day. The skies were clear and the waves were tranquil. We relaxed on the beach, tanning in the sun and enjoying the water. Around 5 pm, we walked back to the campus. We freshened up and my watch group and I helped make some delicious salmon and chicken rice soup. Watch group b cleaned up after the meal, and our PAs cleaned out our fridge, making it cleaner and more organized than ever. Later at night, we headed to the bonfire made by Carter. We wrapped up the day by playing volleyball, enjoying the warm fire, and creating some tasty smores.
