From Toast to Tides

June 30, 2025
Authors: Peckham and Adya
We trickled out of bed as we usually do on “school” days, completing our own routines and making our own breakfasts independently. Many people made various forms of toast, bowls of cereal and other classic breakfast items. Just after cleaning up breakfast we headed up to the Madden Center where we grabbed our gear and left for Little Sippewissett salt marsh after a short presentation from a guest speaker.
While we were there we took samples and collected data from various areas in the marsh. For some groups, this information is critical to their final projects. We waded through the water, most of us getting soaked in the process, but the cool, refreshing water made it worth it while in the sun.
After data collection, we went back to the campus for lunch, making grilled cheese and tomato soup, which quickly got scarfed down after our intense morning. After lunch, we had a guest lecture about mesopelagic zoology, followed by our teacher’s lecture in our classroom about tides and their effects on our world.
