We started our day today with breakfast prepared by our RA. After being introduced to sampling methods and equipment in the Oceanography class, we went to the Racing Beach and were divided into groups, doing different labs. I collected data of the physical features of the coast, including the changing slope of the beach, the wind speed, and the wave properties, and tried to learn about the relationship between sea wind and waves. Unexpectedly I took back the onshore algae, the Dead Man’s Finger, the Codium fragile, and observed under the microscope.
