Hello All!

The day started off clear, a little windy, and with a chance of A watch winning the line chase! Our dawn watch started with beautiful stargazing, a lesson on how to use a sextant, and the usual line handling and science. Today, all the watches (but especially A watch) worked on last minute prep for the infamous line chase. The challenge is a relay race between the watches where each person was given a specific line to find from the 70 lines on the boat. We studied diagrams of the sails, winches, downhauls, jiggers, and more in hopes of winning the battles against the other watches. The three watch groups, due to bitter rivalry, were very prideful in ensuring that their respective group had the upper hand in knowing the lines. B watch tried to cram in some last minute studying, with deckhand Sophie gathering a group of kids to pass around the boat and name their lines in the dying moments. C watch was lead by their line expert Linnea, in hopes to come out of line-chase with their group on top.

But at the end, it was A watch who would claim the title for themselves. With the help of Jeremy’s line bible (a must read for sailors) and Krish’s pneumonic devices, A watch was prepared to find any line on the ship within seconds. They celebrated this triumph with a special celebratory Conga Line (everyone’s favorite line) across the ship, parading their trophy for all to see.

On other news, today we sailed passed multiple wind farms so we presented science reports on how wind farms work. These were a beautiful sight to see featuring a backdrop of sunsets, whales, and beautiful skies. Another perfect day on the Corwith Cramer.
