To Woods Hole We Go

On Sunday evening, the SSV Corwith Cramer welcomed participants and invited experts including a member from Cramer’s design team, Roger Long, onboard. For the second leg of the SEA Sailing Symposium on North Atlantic Right Whales, Erin Meyer-Gutbrod, University of South Carolina; Sara Tennant, NOAA NEFSC and SEA Class C-294; and Allison Henry, NOAA Fisheries Biologist, will be presenting on the work they do.  The tentative plan is to pass by the Block Island wind farm and then continue through the Cape Cod Canal. From there, we will be sailing through Cape Cod Bay, with time spent on Stellwagen Bank. The voyage will conclude at Cramer’s home base- Dyer’s Dock in Woods Hole- on Saturday May 6.

Today was a busy morning, but a welcomed sunny one after two days of endless rain docked at Brooklyn Bridge Park.  With participants and experts arriving late the previous day, the morning began with emergency drills followed by a quick turnaround in preparation for departure at 1230. Sailing up the East River the Cramer set sail under the Brooklyn Bridge and continued toward Long Island Sound with a clear view of Manhattan at its stern. No presentations today as we settle into the routine onboard.
