Description of Location: Anchored at Savusavu off the coast of Vanua Levu
The day was busy with lots of science and lots of fun!! We woke up to the beautiful views of Vanua Levu. We started off the morning with breakfast at 7:00 am! made by our wonder full stewards. We have been anchored at Savusavu for two nights now, but today had lots of new adventures. Getting right to business with reef surveys on point reef in the morning. The current was strong, but we were stronger not letting the conditions stop us from getting data. The snorkeling was amazing, I even saw a giant clam!!
SWIM CALL!!! after all our hard work collecting data, we needed a fun break; the swimming pool was open!! We all jumped off the bow of the boat having lots of fun, hooting, and hollering as we jumped off. After all that jumping, we got to hang out in the swimming pool, which is the space between the bow of the boat and the science doors.
After all that swimming fun we needed to prosses our data. We processed the data for our 6 transect and 3 surface stations, go us!!! During all our hard work the stewards make the most delicious snack ever warm brie with honey on top of fresh homemade bread!!! Thank you, Natalie, and Brook the cook, you are the best 🙂
We also had a very very special birthday today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY IZZY we love you. Thank you for always being the best. Izzy has been with us through the shore component and the ship, so she holds a very special place in our hearts. We celebrated with chocolate cupcakes!! And Ice cream!! And lots of happy birthday singing of course.
We had to turn our phones in when we got on the ship, so we could fully acclimate to life on ship with no distractions. To all our families, know that we are safe and happy
