Weather / Wind and Sail Plan: Foggy, cloudy, vessels switched to starboard
Description of where we are sailing: Cape Cod Bay
We woke up still docked at Woods Hole and we began our day with delicious
Dutch Baby pancakes (not made with real Dutch babies) that Annie and Poppy
made. Afterwards, we began prepping for the worst case scenarios, emergency
drills. A watch is responsible for the fire hose, B watch the sails, and C
watch closing the ventilations. We tried on the peak of fashion with the
lobster hands, the emergency immersion suits.
Then it was time to go. After leaving the dock we set the topsail and C
watch began their shortened shift. At 1300 they were relieved by A watch
within a few hours. We sailed through the canal, under the Bourne and
Sagamore bridges into Cape Cod Bay. When B watch took over the fog rolled in
but cleared up after an hour or two. At night we deployed the neuston net,
and caught some bioluminescent critters! After setting a few more some sails
we went to bed. Good night.
