Greetings, once again, from the Corwith Cramer! Today was a day filled with more exciting firsts for the students as we got underway from Vineyard Haven and sailed (and motor sailed) to Nantucket. Sails were set and struck underway, yards were braced appropriately, tricks (turns) at the helm were taken by most, and we had our first afternoon ship’s meeting to learn about the specifics of the academic work to be done underway. It was a fun, but very busy day. And now, as it wraps up, the ship is filled with the sounds of laughter, a strumming guitar, and a chorus of singing voices.

Tomorrow will include an offshore passage to get us clear of the eastern edges of Cape Cod and into western reaches of the Gulf of Maine. Stay tuned for another faculty update on that day before we turn to student accounts of life on board as we head into the next week.

Best Wishes,

Craig
